Another reason to love NewsGator. Its feed wizard now has a category called “newsletters,” and our eViews newsletter is listed in it.

Why is this important? In addition to the nice free promotion for Escalan, it promotes the idea of a newsletter delivered by RSS. Big whoop, right? Well, here’s why I think so. Most RSS feeds are just blogs. As such, that means frequent updates that are often trivial in nature. From the user’s perspective, this can be overwhelming and may eventually lead to people choosing not to subscribe because they already get too many feeds. But if users get used to the idea of occasional updates via RSS, then they will be more likely to subscribe.
That’s the theory anyway.
You know, I never really thought about it before, but Rick Bruner makes a great point: why the heck is the public relations profession such a laggard on the Internet, which after all is all about communication?
Now here’s something completely different – Blogstakes. They incent bloggers to link to contests by allowing the blogger to win the contest as well as the entrant. It’s a pretty neat idea and it’s got viral written all over it. Here’s my entry to one of the contests: Click here to Win BrowserCam Free for a Year
I read about Ween in last week’s Onion and they talked a little about their web site. I’m not really a fan of their music, but their Flash is fun. Reminds me a little of Monty Python animation. Make sure to mouse over the cow’s right nostril and his horns.
Wow! Getting mentioned on Seth Godin’s blog is like a super bowl ad or something, except it was free. Since he linked to me last week, I’ve gotten more than a dozen requests for my free 5 point checkup.
